Pelham Place
About
Jay Pelham, host of Pelham Place, is the guidance guru you didn’t know you needed. Passionate about people and small businesses, he’s taken his metaphorical not-so-ripe lemons and made some of the world’s best metaphorical lemonade.
The result? A well-rounded professional with an impressive patchwork of experience, wisdom, and skills willing to share his knowledge with the world.
The goal? To help people like you tackle life head-on by allowing them to learn from someone else’s (his) mistakes. His misfortune just might lead to your breakthroughs.
The catch? There isn’t one. Jay is passionate about building a supportive community that encourages creativity and kindness. By sharing lessons learned, he knows he can help others avoid some of the same mistakes he made, and give them a leg up as they face a world full of unknowns.
Growing up around radio stations, Jay seldom found time for things as trivial as homework. He grew up surrounded by famous artists, spending afternoons at the station and weekends at concerts. It was inevitable that he eventually developed an intense love for the entertainment industry - the production, performance, marketing, and the impact that these performances had on an audience.
After graduating from high school, Jay spent a majority of the ‘90s balancing a string of fast food jobs while pursuing gigs in the music business. While the fast food industry taught him everything he needed to know about customer service and consumer demands, it fell short of providing adequate funding for the lifestyle Jay was living. Overwhelmed with personal debt at age 23, Jay filed for bankruptcy. But not for nothing, Jay learned more through the process of overcoming his bankrupt status than he could’ve hoped for, and lucky for you, he’s eager to share his findings with others.
Once he was able to get back on his feet, Jay spent most of his time touring the Southeastern US, managing rappers and rock bands while consulting indie musicians along the way. Eventually, he landed a job at a radio station and began climbing his way up in the industry, where he earned titles including Morning Show Producer and Promotions Director - both of which allowed him to gain even more exposure to the showbiz industry.
But in 2009, the radio business continued to fall victim to corporate consolidation. Like many, Jay found himself a little lost and unsure of what his next steps could (or should) be, but took the opportunity to pivot, landing a role in the employee morale and corporate events industry - a perfect fit.
Jay’s journey has been full of roadblocks, big wins, obstacles, and celebrations. He’s learned so much about life through the lens of his peers, various celebrities, and public figures and carved his own path along the way in an effort to make the people smile.
As a jack of all trades (and expert of some), Jay is eager to offer his services to companies and individuals who see the value in authenticity. Whether it’s lessons learned from Jay’s early financial woes, finding and booking talent for a corporate event, increasing brand awareness across social media, or producing your next ground-breaking event, he’s enthusiastic about leveraging his experience and knowledge to help others make an impact.
